Mixpak FM: Mr. Mitch

Mixpak-FM-MrMitch

Mixpak FM 066 is brought to you by London producer & DJ, Mr. Mitch. Despite having produced tracks for the likes of Skepta, Trim and Riko Dan, it’s the instrumental in-and-of-itself where Mr. Mitch finds his true home, as we saw on his offering for the first Mixpak Pressure compilation. Known for tracks that reach to the outer limits of grime experimentation and weirdness, Mr. Mitch’s output ranges from the playful Peace edits of The Beach Boys or Pharrell (while everyone else was bringing the war dubs), to the more ambient sounds, like ‘The Man Waits’. As well as being a resident at the ever-growing instrumental grime night Boxed, Mitch also heads Gobstopper Records, releasing tracks from Strict Face, Bloom and Moony.

His Mixpak FM runs through tracks from young UK producers Inkke, Murlo and JD Reid, as well as revered electronic producers Actress and Clark, not to mention his own edits.

You can subscribe to Mixpak FM via iTunes, subscribe with an RSS reader from the Mixpak FM site or download this mix directly.

Koyote linked with Canyon to talk about all kinds of things for Thump, from hardware to coyotes, coupe decale to Detroit. Read in full here.

“I joined Family Werks in the early noughties because we were the only ones in France who were into Detroit booty music back then. We decided to gather the strength to promote that sound and started throwing parties in Paris. A few years later, we disbanded the crew and I started Diamond Grills with Goon, one of the former members of Family Werks. We had a club residency where we booked Detroit and Chicago headliners, we had radio gigs, and we released mixtapes. We met Dre Skull in 2007 while we were touring the US, and by the time he started Mixpak a couple of years later, I had developed my own solo sound. I sent him some tracks and he signed me for three EPs.”

We’re excited to announce our next release, from a new artist by the name of Mr One Hundred. The record, which he describes as “power soca music from the future”, features 5 original tracks, including 3 officially endorsed soca samples from Trini royalty. Somewhere on the boundaries of techno and soca, “Palm Tree Destruction” is like nothing else. Watch out for the stream landing soon and the full record dropping on April 15th.

Track list:

1 – Axis Jab Jab (Feat. Bunji Garlin)
2 – Soca Workout (Feat. Fay Ann Lyons)
3 – HOW Riddim
4 – Headgone (Feat. Machel Montano)
5 – Hundred Wind It
