Ministry of Sound is releasing a new double disc compilation from Style Of Eye and they’ve licensed Renaissance Man’s Sissy Nobby “Lay Me Down” remix from us. Looks like a winner.

The second chapter of Ministry of Sound’s Club series has been mixed by Linus Eklow aka Style Of Eye. The DJ and producer is specialized in a tech-house driven sound with bits of electro to it. On his 2008 album Duck, Cover and Hold we could see his talent. Now he shows his skills again on a new compilation that features two discs: the first simulating the kind of set one might hear on a night out at Ministry of Sound, and the second collecting Eklows’s own productions and remixes.

Ministry of Sound Club Presents – Style of Eye will be out on April 26th, 2010.

Mixpak is proud to release Sissy Nobby’s new single “Lay Me Down.”

This anthemic, midtempo rap song is equally indebted to the sounds of No Limit Records and Rap A Lot Records, carrying on a Southern tradition of syrupy synth strings and a head nodding bass perfect for cruising in your Cadillac. Featuring the inimitable voice of New Orleans bounce star Sissy Nobby, “Lay Me Down” is a sex track like you’ve never heard before.

To say Nobby is the next Southern rap phenomenon is no exaggeration. With no label backing or promo, he’s gotten over ten million plays on Myspace, leading major label A&Rs to come calling. He performs on a nightly basis, 365 days a year, running the club scene in the city of New Orleans with additional dates taking him around the South. On any given Friday or Saturday night, Nobby can be seen playing up to three shows a night (each show at a different club), and it’s that kind of dedication to the live show that gives him a strength of voice beyond the reach of many rappers. Still in his early twenties, Nobby’s unforgettable voice and raw production style has become a local institution, cemented by mixtapes, Limewire downloads, and the crowds of crazy girls that follow him around like he’s the Pied Piper of booty.

We got this Slackaz Remix in the mail yesterday. Pretty crazy mix of Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh” and Vybz Kartel’s “Yuh Love.” This isn’t a mash up per se—more like a splice up—and the videos of both songs get the splice treatment too. Pretty crazy effort!

Btw Hold Yuh is burning up Hot 97 in New York. Full support!

Mixpak is a small label trying to do big things and sometimes it feels like if we had a little help we could be doing more. We’re ready to test this hypothesis, so we’re looking for a few good interns.

There are three types of positions that we’re looking to fill.

Graphic Designers/Web Experts
Do you know Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, HTML or WordPress? We’re looking for artists and web designers on the up and up who could help out with our site, design web banners and take responsibility for some other Mixpak related artwork. Providence, RI based people may get occasional free dinners and hot tub access (we’re looking at you RISD students).

Bloggers
If you have experience blogging about music, hit us up. If you have a specific area of musical interest even better. Blog about something else, but think you’re good? We want to hear from you too. Include a link to your bloggings.

Renaissance Interns
Must be willing to wait in line at the post office, attend Mixpak affiliated parties, package merch, handle last minute requests, drink freely gifted espressos, send emails, keep track of things and hang out at Bad Manor. If you think you have something to contribute, please let us know. Must be NYC based.

These internships are unpaid, though college credit is available.

If you have a special skill set not listed, including audio or video skills, we want to hear from you too!

Email a short note to info@mixpakrecords.com. Include your background and skill set and let us know what you have to contribute. Also include your location. Serious inquiries only.
