A while ago I read in a Guide To Finland that Helsinki is a truly beautiful city but that some of its citizens tend to be quite hostile towards people who don’t speak their slang. I don’t know whether this is true or not but if there are any producers extremely kind towards people not speaking ‘their slang’ by distributing outstanding tunes, it would have to be the two men who bundled forces on this Finnish shore: Renaissance Man. They’ve previously made a Mixpak appearance on the Sissy Nobby EP (Lay Me Down remix), and released their older EPs on Sound Pellegrino and Dubsided. It’s now Made To Play‘s turn to release their third EP Babbadabba which will be released on May 24th, but is already available to stream on Soundcloud as we speak. Three lovely summer tracks without boundaries if I may!

After interviewing multiple artists for the Mixpak blog, I’ve heard one name repeated over and over when I ask about up and coming artist s that the world needs to prepare for. That name would be Chicago’s DJ Nate, known internationally for his footwork trax and wicked syncopation. In the past there’s been a ton of rumors swirling around DJ Nate’s existence (which of these five websites does he actually update? Is he really only seventeen? etc. etc.), but now we have some facts coming in.

Now, in some exciting news via XLR8R, it looks like ” the juke-repping beatmaker has penned a deal with Planet Mu to release his “Footwork Homicide” 12″ in September, with a full-length album, called Da Trak Genious, following in October. More specifics will be coming soon on the Planet Mu website.”

To celebrate, enjoy one of Nate’s earliest cuts: “Give Dat Man Room”.
