Chris Cunningham has teamed up with Gil Scott Heron for his first video in four years, accompanying the track ‘New York is Killing Me’. It’s no ‘Come To Daddy’, but it sure is creepy. It just opened at the MoMA so if New York isn’t killing you, you can head there or watch it here.
We’re excited to announce “Hot Plate” the debut release from Cory Blaine, a 22 year old producer and DJ from McAllen, Texas. As a resident alongside both the Culnsweet and Bighaus crews, he has played a strong role in redefining the house music scene in Southern Texas and Northern Mexico and we’re excited to introduce him to a larger audience. With “Hot Plate” and B-side “Car Jack,” he has crafted a house sound that is equally indebted to Cajual Records, DJ Sneak and Baltimore Club. The remix package includes strong efforts from DJ Nehpets, Zombie Disco Squad, Malente&Dex and newcomer Andy Petr. House!
Available now from iTunes, Beatport, TTL Digital and Juno. Vinyl dropping later this week. Vinyl out now!
It’s taken over a year to get the recording and paperwork straight, but we can finally announce that we’ve signed our first band! Who is it? Hard Nips, “a hard-rocking and hard-partying quartet of Japanese girls,” and you can expect a four song EP in November. All the Nips currently reside in Brooklyn and NY Press recently caught up with them to find out their story.
Check out this footage of them performing last Cinco De Mayo at the Knitting Factory.
They return to the Knitting Factory September 28th (tomorrow night), opening for Japanese Alt rockers Shonen Knife. Details and tickets here.
New jam from Mavado on the Split Personality riddim by the excellent, synth-loving Seanizzle. This one’s for the slow motion wine.

Dj Teenage Wolf has hooked us up with this seriously bassy Udachi remix of his track ‘Cuerno de Sonido’ from his latest release on Vicious Pop. It’s probably a lot like their Tex Mex parties – it starts off pretty great but a little tame, and then it turns into utter filth. If you want a dirty bassline, this is it.
Download the remix here and head to Turntable Lab to cop the real deal, which features the original, the Udachi remix and a remix by Rampage.
