Alex Clare – Up All Night

When I first heard this song I instantly liked it, not only does it have that infectious punk beat but this man’s vocals are on point. Alex Clare semi howls (in a good way) over this Diplo and Switch produced track. I have seen others touch on how similar it is to Major Lazer’s Hold the Line. It is in fact a classier (read slowed down and added strings) cousin of  Lazer Theme. Lazer Theme is probably my favourite track off last year’s Guns Dont Kill People Lazers Do LP, MC Future Trouble slays the beat with a politically insightful venom.

Wiley gives away ‘Paper’

Grime’s Robin Hood, Wiley, can’t help but give his tracks away. This morning on Twitter, he declared “Aatw make me so sick what a stupid label”, and then in a fairly angry riposte leaked his latest single, ‘Paper’ “cos the label didn’t know what to do with it” and “just to see if people understand Wiley over record labels”. It’s all there on the Eskiboy’s Twitter, including some pretty sound career advice: “the music game is dodgy very dodgy get a better job not this one”.

Perhaps ironically, this latest leak is about ‘making paper’ though he also tweeted “when i was younger i used to make music for know [sic] money so im just being myself when im leaking dont stress or think im mad im cool”. Even if you’re not making paper, we salute you!

Cop the instrumental and the full vocal. He’s also promised the ruff version with Kano, hold tight!

Head to Juno to shell out a measley 99p for Wiley on the awesome Showa Eski riddim.

One of my favourite Zombie Disco Squad tracks starring an unnamed baile funk-esque MC gets a redux from organic tech-house trooper M.in that sounds like someone’s giving the inside of my ear a steam bath and massage.

Apparently it was supposed to be released on Made To Play at some point, but M.in took a bit too long with it and thus, graciously offered it to us internet users as a free gift. Grab it from soundcloud, but hurry- only the first 100 downloads get a taste.

Also, if you haven’t grabbed ZDS’s remix of Cory Blaine, you can hop to it right here.

Young Money rapper Tyga has dropped a new mixtape called Well Done. A few standout tracks include his version of Wiz Khalifa’s anthem “Black and Yellow,” as well as “B.M.F.” (by Rick Ross) and “Hard in the Paint” (by Waka Flocka Flame). Tyga’s rap ballad “Wonder Woman” (featuring Chris Brown) is getting some traction on the Internet.

There aren’t a lot of mixtapes being released by R&B artists nowadays, but Chrisette Michele is breaking that mold with her mixtape Love Thy Brother. The collection boasts some new songs, many of which were leftovers from her upcoming full-length LP Let Freedom Reign (due Nov. 30). Standout tracks include “Aston Martin Music 2,” “Total Praise,” “Freedom” and more. Chrisette’s brother, Lem Payne, co-produced the mixtape. For more info on the mixtape, click HERE.

Rap fans rejoiced when Cam’Ron and Jim Jones settled their longtime beef and announced that Dipset (Cam, Jim, Freekey Zekey and Juelz Santana) would reunite for one more album. The Capo Life mixtape is a preview of what the Dipset movement is going to sound like in the future. Cam’Ron sounds rejuvenated on the banging track “Baby Mamma” (Featuring Snoop Dogg) and Julez teams up with his former boss on “Salute.” The Kanye West diss song “Runaway” is also on here, as well.

Young Scolla is an up-and-coming Detroit rhyme-slinger inspired by fellow Motor City spitters Slum Village, Phat Kat, Black Milk, Eminem and the late J Dilla. His new mixtape Built For More: Journey To Tears & Triumphs is a preview to his forthcoming LP Tears & Triumphs. On the 12-track collection, Young Scolla raps about his experiences in the music industry and his personal struggles outside of the rap game. For Scolla, life has been filled with tears and triumphs. This is not your average “boasting-and-bragging” mixtape. Take a listen:

Rapper CyHi da Prince is the newest signee on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label. The Decatur, Ga. native has released his mixtape Royal Flush, which maybe one of the best mixtapes of 2010. The collection is a showcase of CyHi’s lyrical prowess – from street bravado rhymes to introspective thoughts. “I’ve done some things in a negative light,” said CyHi about content on his mixtape. “But I want to show the transition from when you go from a street thug to an actual prince.” Song highlights include “So Original,” “Can’t Wait,” “Hero” and the rap ballad “Can’t Find Love.” “My style is real hip-hop,” says CyHi. “But I bring the Atlanta swag on top of that.”

Finally! New music from Michael Jackson has been released online. The song “Breaking News” is the first single from the late King of Pop’s upcoming posthumous album simply titled Michael. The collection, which arrives in stores on Dec. 14, will be the first set of new songs from Michael since his 2001 LP Invincible.

There’s already controversy surrounding the single, as the late singer’s family contends that the vocals heard on “Breaking News” are not Michael’s but from an imitator. After listening to the track, we have mixed feelings about it. Despite its dated 2007 production, its sounds like Michael is actually singing on the song. But we wanted to ask you this – Do you think it’s Michael’s vocals on the track? Leave your comments below.
