Jam City – Magic Drops

Dutty Artz producer Matt Shadetek is about to drop a banging new EP, ‘Dutty House’, which is exactly what it says on the tin. To celebrate, he’s giving away this big remix of Black Ryno‘s ‘Nuh Tek Talk’ (which was originally on Chimney’s Death Row Riddim). The tune keeps the sweet high pitch of BR and adds some huge grimey bass. If this is a taste of the EP, then things are looking good. ‘Dutty House’ releases on Juno on December 7th; watch the Dutty Artz website for updates.

Next Tuesday, December 7th at the Cake Shop, more details here.

New Beef/Old Beef

Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex recently dropped a bomb on his own image by committing one of the cardinal sins of Hip Hop: dissing Tupac.

Flex claimed that too many people were ‘sucking’ up to the whole Tupac legend, or in his own words ”F*ck n*ggas sucking Tupac’s d*ck!”. Yep, Flex pretty much ethered himself right there.

The fallout of this whole rather silly situation was rather worrying for Flex. Not only has he lost a lot of support globally but he has also left himself open to verbal attacks. Luckily for Flex, The Outlawz are the only group that seem to care enough to respond, with their new track ‘Warning Shots’. I would post it apart from the fact that it’s atrociously bad, sorry.

Given Hip Hop’s affinity for mindless squabbling, the worst-case scenario from this little episode would have been a re-opening of the notoriously big feud between the left and right coasts. Bay Area rapper Mistah FAB has bigger problems on his mind though. Forget Tupac’s murder, someone killed Hyphy and he’s being blamed! Droop-E‘s on the beat of this introspective monster.
