Toddska

What happens when you multiply Toddla T by Roska? TODDSKA! That’s some dirty house ting right there. EP to drop on Girl Music soon.

DOWNLOAD – JJ KILLS MIXTAPE

So it’s 2011 and Voltaire’s all like “originality is nothing but judicious imitation”, which basically means everything’s been done before and we’re not going to be reinventing the wheel anytime soon. But instead of getting bummed out, Swedish folk cum West coast hip hop collaborators jj have been making some unbelievably good covers, using everything from Jeremiah’s “Birthday Sex” to Dre’s “Detox” and Yeezy’s new album as source material to craft a weird hybrid of eerie, haunting, dope-infused hip hop music.

They just put out a new mixtape called KILLS that you can download here. It’ll blow your mind. If you need proof, check out “Still“- an epic reworking of classic source material.

Dancehall Roundup Roundup

2010 has been a crazy year for Dancehall – if you want the full (or the condensed) stories, thankfully some excellent roundups have been put together, covering Bashment, Reggae, Soca and all your 2010 Caribbean needs.

Erin Hansen gives her comprehensive lowdown over at Kiss My Teeth, while Large Up have compiled their top reggae, JA-influenced pop, Soca and even their top ten Trinitech tunes of the year. For a UK look, head to Shimmy Shimmy.

Looks like Vybz might have taken the man of the year crown. Gaza mi seh!
