Mixpak FM: Murderbot

fm11_016-2

Mixpak 016 is brought to you by mixtape maestro, Chrissy Murderbot. The Chicago-based DJ and producer is fresh from releasing his debut album on Planet Mu, Women’s Studies, that runs through juke, booty and bashment, and features vocals from some Mixpak favourites, Rubi Dan, MC Zulu and Warrior Queen. Aside from creating 160bpm madness, Murderbot also runs Loose Squares and Sleazetone, and is also possibly the only person in the world with the knowledge, taste and DJ skills to put out a mixtape in a different genre every week for a whole year. His live sets are even more hyperactive than his mixtapes, so he recorded us an exclusive live set at Hump, at the Press Club in Sacramento, last month. It’s packed full of unreleased material and remixes. Get your comfiest shoes on for this one.

You can subscribe to Mixpak FM via iTunes, subscribe with an RSS reader from the Mixpak FM site or download this mix directly.

Our favourite girl band have been voted Artist of the Week over at MTV Iggy!

This weekend, we stood back and watched as our readers kicked, screamed, accused, and panicked over the amazing candidates in this week’s Artist of the Week vote. But in the end, Brooklyn via Japan girl rockers Hard Nips won the competition. Congratulations, ladies!

With a mantra like “Better sushi, better sex, more rock n roll,” this pink-clad, Blondie/Joan Jett 80s-tough-girl hearkening foursome only looks sweet. Through their 2009 debut album I Sh*t You Not and an EP, they promise that rock ‘n roll will never die, it’ll just get more adorable.

They also did a full interview with the girls, where they discuss satan, sex and hard nips candy.
