Boody – Guap

Money makes people do some dangerous things, and “Guap” cultivates the feel of someone ready to take serious risks to get it. Full of cloudy-headed vocal samples referencing the root of survival, the track starts backed into a corner. But its explosion is forewarned by sirens, sustained warbled synths, and rumbling bass. An organic drum palette snaps, dashing with intricate fills, heavy syncopation, and multiple polyrhythms. New York’s Boody is better known for fun, ravey tunes dispersed through his blog and label empire Palms Out Sounds. But this track sketches a darker portrait, one that Palms provides an escape from. Murlo – Nectah EP

After a string of successful official and unofficial remixes, UK producer Murlo is about to drop his first EP on Pollinate on November 21st. For fans of his uptempo, high energy roadmixes and dancehall-influenced remixes, this is both familiar and new territory – keeping his signature marimba sounds in ‘Borvo’, the 160bpm beating in the roadmix and the bass paramount on ‘Transform’, while ‘Parched’ adds a more euphoric and pensive sound to round it off nicely. Put the date in your diary.

Go Go Wine Remixes Part 2

Vybz may be on lock down, but the first single from the Mixpak released Kingston Story album, Go Go Wine is still in full effect. After featuring a few remixes not long back, two more great versions have appeared: A7’s treatment of Ce’cile’s classic dancehall tune, ‘Hot Like We’, and Obeyah‘s mash-up with John Legend’s version of ‘Rolling In The Deep’. Keep ’em coming!

Andy Petr – Dirty Money

Here’s a brand new, super sleazy track from Andy Petr. “Dirty Money”‘s muted, damp drum clicks and tom slaps make it groove like a Dam-Funk tune but with Petr’s syncopated vocal and synth melodies roiling along the surface. At under two minutes, you’ll want to put this one on replay (in a major way).
