Dance music below 100 BPM can be a great change of pace. This one slides in there with some bass so wide it can only waddle; drums that pop like we hope the floor would; and a gush of carnival syrup. It’s a Tarraxo track, a genre that doesn’t get a lot of international hype. But it’s formidable across the Lusophone diaspora in places like Angola and Cabo Verde. The genre is also referred to as Tarraxinha, Tarrachinha, and other variants. It’s partially influenced by the Dembow Riddim; yet another testament to how much impact that one song had across the world. This particular track comes from a young Portuguese producer named DJ Karfox. It may not be the best reference to use as an example of how the style generally sounds, but it knocks!
