Dazed Dre Skull Interview

Dazed & Confused featured an interview with Dre Skull last week, alongside a stream of Natalie Storm’s ‘Rock The Runway’:

Shaking up traditional dancehall collab-blueprints Dre Skull merges his trademark calypso house with some of Jamaica’s freshest hip hop and reggae vocalists, producing tracks which colour otherwise stale dancehall floor-fillers with a distinctly upbeat Caribbean vibe. We caught up with him to find out more about his life before music, his upcoming work with Snoop, and his freezer full of coffee.

85th – Stuttering (Prod. by OoNasty)

I don’t want you on your knees/you look better on your feet. Not generally the type of lyrics you hear in a rap song meant for the club. But they walk a balance: just because they’re being respectful doesn’t mean sex isn’t a big topic here. Even though the beat is pretty tuff, it’s really these guys’ delivery that gives the track its bounce. 85th is a young team out of Queens and this track is from their recent mixtape, Delivering Wackness. They don’t like Adrien Brody for some reason…

Mixpak FM: Andy Petr

Mixpak FM 036 comes from the youngest member of the Mixpak family, Andy Petr. The Milwaukee bred, NY based producer releases his sophomore EP, Obsession, next week. Despite his age, his productions and inspirations draw from a huge arsenal of music and deny genre classification – his prolific output of tracks and EPs bounces between house, juke, funk, R&B, boogie and hip hop without blinking.

Petr’s Mixpak FM is a reflection of his eclectic taste; moving smoothly from disco to theme tune to techno to Michael Jackson.

Popcaan – ‘The System’ Official Video
